2015 Austin Hope Mourvedre
Austin Hope Mourvedre was grown on the Hope Family Vineyard, located just 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean in the Templeton Gap District of Paso Robles. Our Mourvedre blocks are planted to three different clones in high-density, 5’ x 5’ spacing. The grapes are hand-picked and fermented in five-ton, open-top tanks. After extended maceration for up to 60 days, the wine aged for 25 months in 70% new French oak barrels.
An intriguing 100% Mourvedre, the wine is deeply colored with a ruby black core that fades to a ruby rim. Aromas of dark cherry, dried cranberry, blueberry and red currants surround an herbal notes while undertones of dark chocolate, vanilla and clove add to the intrigue. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and intense with bold dark fruit flavors, big velvety tannins and balanced acidity.
