2015 Austin Hope Mourvedre / Syrah
Austin Hope Syrah/Mourvedre was grown on the Hope Family Vineyard, located just 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean in the Templeton Gap District of Paso Robles. Our vineyard blocks are planted in high-density spaced rows and managed carefully to keep cluster counts low. The grapes are hand-picked and fermented in five-ton, open-top tanks. After extended maceration for up to 60 days, the wine aged for 26 months in 85% new French oak barrels.
This wine is a brooding deep purple in color with an almost black core. The intensity of the color evolves into equally intense aromas of black currants, dried violets and star anise. On the palate, dark chocolate and black licorice are lightly accompanied with hints of vanilla and notes of cinnamon and clove.
